When i try to log in after thieve's guild update i alway get error 'Your DirectX system is unsupported'' and i cant log in, i saw the post that says i need Dirext11 but i already have dirext11 so what is this stupid error?
i dont know, i have windows 7 and my pc is black coloured, i suddenly cant play it since the thieve's guild patch
Try opening the game in 32bit client bro and when did u purchase your pc , cos older PC can't handle the game anymore
i type in dxdiag on startup and it says clearly: DirectX Version: DirectX 11 + i run many other modern games that need Dirext11 i dont know what they did but this error will throw away even the remaining people who gave a second chance to this game. It ran fine until now but with this patch they killed it

That doesnt matter. All that means is you have it installed. It doesnt mean your graphics card supports it. Do you know what graphics card is in it?

not really but its surely not my fault otherwise how can i run the division or black ops 3 but not eso which has even worse graphics than skyrim
You can check what GPU you have with either some Programm like CPU-Z or check in your device manager. If you need help, some informations are required.
The most recent update removed any DX9 support from the game, now you need a video card that supports DX11
IF you use DXDIAG in your run menu, a window will pop up and that will tell you what video card you have. However, with this change, if you do not have a DX11 compatible card, the game will not launch.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Because both those game support DX9 and DX10. ESO does not anymore. Most likely the problem is your video card doesnt support dx11. If you can find out what video card it is i can tell you for sure.

OP, Technical support can probably help you but what I would try is delete your UserSettings.txt file (the game will repopulate it automatically), run a repair and hope the game fixes the problem itself.
You need to check the DirectX feature level, not the DirectX version.

All we really need to know is what video card it is. As far as black ops 3 I know for a fact it runs on a DX10 system because I run it on a video card I had to replace to play ESO because it did not support DX11. I dont own the division so I cant say on that for a fact.

I mean I assume Activision didn't write two compilers secretly, one in DX10 and one in DX11, so that card you are using must be DX11 compatible.

I dont know what to tell you about that one. It runs just fine on my Raedon 4770 which says its using dx 10.1.
If you want to easily identify your GPU, etc on Windows, Speccy by Piriform (the company that makes CCleaner) is easy to use and can even tell you the details of your monitor under the Graphics tab.
It's one of the better hardware identifiers out there.
For instance, it even tells me the build revision of my GPU (not that I really care unless there is an insurmountable physical hardware bug that requires an RMA of the device, but still).
Edit: Note, there is a rather common bug in systems that have both onboard and discrete GPU where sometimes games will only detect the onboard GPU causing all sorts of issues because the system doesn't properly swap over to the discrete GPU when the game is started. There is a fix/workaround for this even mentioned by ZOS in their sticky thread at the top of the support forum.

I keep getting this message on my laptop but I checked the link and everything looks correct:
Anyone know what the issue might be?
Your card is DirectX 10.1 compliant. It can't run DX11, which is the current minimum spec for ESO. (Sometime around July 2015, the DX9 and DX10 support was dropped.)

I'm guessing you were one of the players that started at launch and quit playing.
The game has gone through a few major changes in min specs.
In a few months the game will be 64bit only.

Since the most recent Windows 10 update and the first update in December, I have not been able to consistantely run the game. I am getting the same kind of message as the person previously mentioned:
After following some directions I checked my "directx" and it is version 12.
Why am I getting this message? Has ESO changed something or is this a Microsoft problem? I really need some help with this issue.
@osaceeub17_ESO
Your GPU (graphics card) doesn't support DX11 or 12 and it doesn't metter if DX12 is installed or not
If you know what is your GPU you can google it and see if it supports DX11/12.
i have been getting this error the last couple days. geforce gtx 960m is gtg for dx12 and i have dx12. i have nvidia set to use the 960m for the game. last time i got it, i restarted the computer and worked until now. so.
For anyone getting the error “Your DirectX version is unsupported” please make sure to update both DirectX and your video card drivers. You can find more information in the help article linked below.

I'd like to chime in and say I, too, just started getting this error. and I definitely have the most up-to-date drivers and a card that can support DirectX 11. Was able to play just fine last night, but this morning - no restarts, no updates, etc. - I suddenly can't.

I had the same problem this morning. Last night, the game ran just fine, this morning, suddenly, my DirectX version is unsupported. I have DirectX12 so I hardly think that's the issue here. My drivers are also up to date, and restarting my PC fixed it and I was able to run the game.
@ZOS_BillE could you please let the team know that there may be something in the newest Windows update that's causing the game to behave like this? Thank you.
that is exactly what is happening to me after i run PTS and then try to run eso.
as soon as i run a repair and then restart my PC it fixes the problem, but the problem only happens after i play the PTS and then try to play eso LIVE.
At a guess: everyone having trouble uses NVIDIA GPUs? It appears the most recent driver set doesn't play well with ESO. Quitting out of ESO sometimes causes the NVIDIA drivers to stop working, based on my poking into error longs, hence the restart being required.
If you run a Nvidia card, it is most likely the recent nvidia driver update. I had the same issue and after talking to nvidia support it seems the new driver update causes an issue with some games.
A work around for this problem is to reboot your computer every time you play. It will work correctly after a fresh reboot. Otherwise to save you playing tag with nvidia customer support, these are the instructions i was given to fix the problem:
"Thank you for the update.

You should note this is the solution for win 7/8/8.1 64 bit. It appears to support most cards from 400 series up to 10 series(10xx), though i dont see any mobile cards on the list. This solved my problem ive launched the game 7 or 8 times without needing a reboot.
I am having the same issue. Last night (5/3) I was able to play fine.
Woke up this morning and got the same DirectX message.
I have DirectX 12. Followed the ZoS link, but didn't help at all.
FYI~ DirectX is updated thru Windows Updates. Copied this from Windows.

Updates will be available through Windows Update. There is no stand-alone package for these versions of DirectX.
ATM, I am up-dating my Windows. Then I will check my Nividia updates, and try again.
Will let ya know if it works for me too.

The problem seems to happen when you quit using the in-game quit option. Ending the process via the Windows Task Manager avoids the driver dump, at least for me.
I had that issue (directX) with any game and that so called DRIVER update LOOP with the drivers 397.31 installed (where it displayed that the drivers were available to download/install even so they were already installed, after each restart). Do not install those drivers yet until an official fix is out from nvidia. If you already have. then follow steps to rollback the driver to a previous version.
this is still happening and we need help. please advice eso devs,

hotfix for some nvidia users is already out, it mainly affects 1060 users, I have 1080 and new nvidia drivers, with no problems.
I did have issues with the new windows update though, so may be due to that and nvidia drivers for some of you.

Ok. I had 2 Widows updates that some how didn't auto update.
Updated windows, ran a driver update tool, restarted computer, got right in to ESO.
Suggestion.. Have the "Help" page on DirectX aloso include checking Windows updates..

Did you receive the error prompt saying “Your DirectX version is unsupported” after launching Elder Scrolls Online? Don’t worry! We will show you how to fix this problem.
Ensure, you apply the solutions enlisted in this post to fix the ESO issue.
Fix: ESO DirectX version is unsupported
Solution 1: Check Graphics Card compatibility
If your graphics card is not compatible with ESO game requirements, the DirectX error prompt might occur.
Follow these steps to check your graphics card compatibility:
- Press the Windows key and then type “dxdiag” in the search box (without quotes).
- Click on dxdiag shortcut to run the program.
- Now, click on the Display tab.
- Locate the DDI version under Drivers section. If the number indicated beside the DDI version is less than 11; that implies your graphics card does not support DirectX 11. Hence, you may have to install other games compatible with your PC.
Alternatively, you can upgrade your PC graphics card through the help of technician or certified Computer engineer.
Solution 2: Update your Graphics card
If your PC is compatible with DirectX 11 version but you have the outdated DirectX version installed on your PC; don’t worry, you can update your current DirectX version.
Here’s how to update DirectX:
- Go to Start > Type Windows Update and click on it.
- In the Windows Update program, check for available updates and install them.
- Afterwards, restart your Windows PC and launch Elder Scrolls Online.
Note: Ensure the DirectX update option is checked so as to install the latest DirectX update.
Alternatively, you can use other automated solutions such as DriverEasy, CCleaner, etc. to update DirectX program on your PC.
Lastly, if you still experience ‘ESO DirectX version is unsupported’ error prompt, you can uninstall ESO, update DirectX, and then reinstall ESO game. Let us know if any of the enlisted solutions above worked for you.
