Recovery Expert

Acronis Recovery Expert.
Recovery Expert
Recovery Expert
Acronis
Recovery Expert

Acronis OS Selector
Acronis OS Selector
Acronis OS Selector
Acronis OS Selector?
В MBR Acronis OS Selector
\BOOTWIZ\BOOTSECT.SYS)
BOOTWIZ.SYS

Follow step-by-step instructions below to troubleshoot the issue. Complete prerequisites step before proceeding to error troubleshooting step.
Make sure all prerequisites are fulfilled. Complete all steps before proceeding to error troubleshooting step.
1.1 Dynamic disks are not supported
OS Selector can only be installed on a basic MBR disk.
1.2 Software compatibility
- Acronis Try&Decide
- Norton GoBack
- Partitioning and defragmentation software
Do not use this software when using Acronis OS Selector, reactivate or reinstall OS Selector after using any of this software.
If all steps above have been executed and issue still persists, go to error troubleshooting step.
2. Error troubleshooting
Follow to the necessary issue troubleshooting step. Complete all substeps before proceeding to collect information step.
2.1 Boot loader conflict
OS Selector is installed into MBR and in case another loader is written to the MBR, OS Selector is erased. To reactivate OS Selector, boot with the OS Selector/Acronis Disk Director bootable media and activate it.
In case of Linux loader, OS Selector does not substitute it, so it is recommended not to install Linux loader to MBR, but ot the boot sector.
2.2 CD/DVD detection issue
Acronis OS Selector does NOT support the following CD/DVD drive interfaces:
Use ATA and SCSi interfaces or switch to legacy mode for CD/DVD ROM in BIOS.
2.3 Keyboard/mouse detection issue
If you use a USB keyboard/mouse, make sure USB Legacy Support is activated in BIOS.
To select what input device should be used, go to OS Selector options - Input Devices - and choose the appropriate option.
As a workaround, use PS/2 keyboard/mouse in OS Selector.
2.4 OS copy issue
Copying an operating system implies duplicating all its system files and folders and configuration files, as well as all programs installed, into a separate folder located inside the hidden BOOTWIZ system folder. Problems with copying the OS may appear during one of the following operations:
- OS System folders and files detection. For a Windows system, go to source OS options and check that OS system files and folders are detected correctly.
- During the copying process to BOOTWIZ folder. Make sure the disk has no errors and has enough space to contain the copy of the OS and all programms installed in it.
- Renaming the OS and appending to the list in OS Selector.
Copying is a long process and you should not interrupt it. If OS copy fails, run the OS detection with OS Selector to make sure all existing OS's are detected correctly.
2.5 OS selector Activation/Deactivation
OS Selector is installed into the BOOTWIZ folder. When OS Selector is activated, it is written into MBR of the disk.
If OS Selected activation is being lost, find the software or OS that overwrites the MBR and configure it accordingly. Then reactivate OS Selector.
In order to be able to activate or deactivate OS Selector, it has to be installed first. Reinstall OS Selector to make sure installation is not corrupted. See also: After Deleting the BOOTWIZ Folder an Error Message Is Received Every Time Windows Is Booted.
If Activation or Deactivation of OS Selector fails, make sure that writing MBR is possible on the disk. See Restoring Windows Boot Loader Manually.
2.6 OS does not boot after operations
OS Selector supports Windows and Linux operating systems. It detects their system folders and files and loaders, allowing to boot into these OS.
If the OS fails to boot, first of all check the message you get during the boot proccess and troubleshoot accordingly.
- Check that OS loader was not corrupted. For Linux OS you may want to reinstall the loader. For Windows OS see Restoring Windows Boot Loader Manually.
- Check that OS system files were not corrupted. OS Selector modifies the OS files when you create a copy of OS or install additional Windows OS on the same volume with Protect Folders option. The files are copied to the BOOTWIZ folder.
- Check if OS can boot when OS Selector is deactivated. Reinstall OS Selector in case is helps.
- Re-detect the OS in OS Selector to make sure it is recognized correctly.
2.7 Slow OS selector
OS Selector reads the data fom disks an depends on the performance of the disks as well as on the controller performance.
- Make sure disk drives show acceptable performance in the OS. Install OS Selector on different drive to resolve the issue.
- Detach all USB devices apart from mouse and keyboard or use PS/2.
- Check the option "Do not load CD-ROM drivers" in OS Selection Startup options.
- Check Acronis Disk Director bootable media performance . If it is same as for OS Selector, address the Acronis Linux bootable media performance issue with Acronis Support.
If all steps above have been executed and issue still persists, go to collect information step.

Acronis OS Selector
под DOS или Windows?
Acronis OS Selector
Acronis OS Selector?
Acronis OS Selector
Acronis OS
Acronis OS
Acronis OS
Acronis OS Selector…».
