I have started the OUI and select the unistall option for oracle 11g home and got below error: You need to be expand the.
we could not get 11g R2 to work on a new Windows 2008 server.
So now we need to remove it.
The correct way to uninstall is to:
1) Start Oracle Universal Installer.
2) Click the Deinstall Products button
3) Select the Oracle home you wish to remove.
4) Check the boxes of components to remove (tediously you have to check every box)
5) Click remove.
But when you do this, a dialogue pops up and says:
"please run the command c:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\deinstall\deinstall to deinstall Orcacle".
Why is the documentation wrong, and why do they tell you to use the installer to deinstall, if its just going to tell you to run a command line?
When you run this, it says:
Specify all Single Instance listeners that are to be de-configured [LISTENER]:
WTH? How does one specify all single instance listeners?
There are litterally hundreds of pages of documentation on how to uninstall oracle - something which should be a trival task. But I cant find any mention of how to find out how to specify all single instance listeners.
In desperation, I tried hitting enter, at least takes you to the next gotcha:
The details of database(s) ORCL have been discovered automatically. Do you still want to modify the details of ORCL data
base(s)? [n]:
WTH? Why would I want to modify the details of a database? I want to delete oracle and everything it has installed, not modfy details. Should I say yest or no? I have NO idea. Give me more options, or dont ask at all!
If I say y, it says:
Specify the type of this database (1.Single Instance Database|2.Oracle Restart Enabled Database) [1]:
What? I have NO idea what the difference between these two options are. This was never mentioned in the installation process, so way ask now? Why doesnt it just delete the DB as I requested?
At this point I gave up.
Oracle is the worst SW on windows I have seen. Its impossible for a unix and windows sys admin with 20 years experience to even install or remove.
Hi,
We had multiple oracle clients installed. I have to uninstall these. So far I uninstalled everything other than one client 11.2.0.1. WHen I attempt to remove using the universal installer, I see a message "Please run the command 'E:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1/deinstall/deinstall' to deinstall this Oracle home."
When I try running the deinstall.bat command, I see the error below.
c:\app\user1\product\11.2.0\client_1\deinstall>deinstall.bat

9-34-35-AM.out (Access is denied)
Error seems related with the permission issues. Can you make sure you have logged in as a correct oracle user and have a read/write permission on C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\ directory.
I am running the command as an administrator. I mean the user belongs to Administrators group. I am on Windows 2008.
I noticed that the log folder has some of its components as Read-only. (grayed check mark in the properties Read-only check box). I don't see any file/ hidden file with that name. Even though I tried to uncheck to remove the Read-only completely and save the setting, the gray check mark stays.
Is there an alternate method of clearing folders/regitry entries, etc., if the deinstall does not work. I spent 1/2 day already for this.

10.2 Deinstall the Oracle Database and EMCC Using OUI
You use the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) to deinstall the Oracle EMCC. This section provides an example deinstall based on the install examples described in the chapters of this guide entitled:
To deinstall the Oracle database and EMCC using OUI:
Change to the oui/bin directory and run the OUI runInstaller.sh script. For example, your oui/bin and command line might be:
On Oracle Universal Installer: Welcome, click the Deinstall Products . button.
On Inventory, check every checkbox except the checkbox for the Oracle Database Home. For example, do not select this checkbox:
Click the Remove button.
On Confirmation, click the Yes button to deinstall all Oracle components except the database home, which cannot be deinstalled until all other components are first deinstalled.
The Remove dialog shows the progress of the deinstallation actions.
On Inventory, verify the only remaining Oracle products is the Oracle database home. For example:
On Inventory, select the checkbox for the Oracle database home and click the Remove button.
A Warning displays this text:
Please run the command '/u01/app/oracle/home/deinstall/deinstall' to deinstall this Oracle home.
As instructed in the Warning, open a UNIX console window and issue these commands to change to the /oracle/home/deinstall directory and run the deinstall.sh script:
The deinstall.sh script launches the Oracle Deinstall and Deconfiguration Tool and displays the following console, where the bolded sections are user prompts. This console listing shows users responses that are applicable for this example. If no reponse is shown in the console session, then the default action is assumed as triggered by the user input pressing of the Enter key. You should refer to the Oracle OEM documentation and provide user responsibles applicable to your installation.

Assuming a Windows installation, do please refer to this:
- Uninstall all Oracle components using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).
- Run regedit.exe and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE key. This contains registry entires for all Oracle products.
- Delete any references to Oracle services left behind in the following part of the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Ora* It should be pretty obvious which ones relate to Oracle.
- Reboot your machine.
- Delete the "C:\Oracle" directory, or whatever directory is your ORACLE_BASE.
- Delete the "C:\Program Files\Oracle" directory.
- Empty the contents of your "C:\temp" directory.
- Empty your recycle bin.
- Be careful when following anything listed here (above or below), as doing so may remove or damage any other Oracle-installed products.
- For 64-bit Windows (x64), you need also to delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE key from the registry.
- Clean-up by removing any related shortcuts that were installed to the Start Menu.
- Clean-up environment variables:
- Consider removing %ORACLE_HOME% .
- Remove any paths no longer needed from %PATH% .
This set of instructions happens to match an almost identical process that I had reverse-engineered myself over the years after a few messed-up Oracle installs, and has almost always met the need.
Note that even if the OUI is no longer available or doesn't work, simply following the remaining steps should still be sufficient.
You need to be expand the oracle home menu and have to select submenu as given below it the screen shot:
