Using the power of machine-learning AI technology, Video Enhance AI is trained on thousands of videos and combines information from multiple input video frames. It can enlarge your video up to 8k resolution with true details and motion consistency. For example, you can upscale SD video to HD or even 4K resolution.
What is the minimum hardware requirement for Video Enhance AI?
A DirectX12 compatible GPU (NVidia or AMD). An Intel CPU from 2015 onwards or an AMD CPU from 2016 onwards are our minimum requirements for the CPU.
Mac minimum requirements: 8GB or more RAM, 2GB of VRAM. MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) to run on CPU only. MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) or newer to run on GPU. This gives the best performance.
Full M1 native support for all M1 machines in version 2.5 and higher.
Can Video Enhance AI work on Macs?
Yes. Video Enhance AI can run on all Mac models that meet the hardware requirements from 2012 onwards including M1 machines.
Can I buy one and run it on both Mac and Windows?
Yes, your license exists independently of your operating system.
Can I do batch processing on several videos?
Sure you can! You can load several videos simultaneously into Video Enhance AI. All of them can be assigned with different settings including output size, upsample scale, output format, model utilized and etc. Then with a single click on the process button, they will all be processed in sequence.
How long will it take to process a video?
Here is an example. On a PC with Nvidia GTX 1080. For a video from HD to 8K, it typically takes 2-3 seconds for each frame. If you upscale a video from SD to HD, it will take about 0.4 seconds for each frame.
We are working on compiling benchmarking information.
What is the maximum size of an output video I can get?
We support up to 8K video output. Any size larger than 8K will cause a failure. But you can set the output format as a sequence of images (png/tif/tiff) which can support nearly any size.
Can I process interlaced Video?
Yes! You will want to use our Dione models to deinterlace.
My machine has more than one Nvidia GPU, can I use all of them?
Yes, you can use the Experimental All GPU's option.
The Experimental All GPU setting is intended for users with multiple similar Nvidia or AMD GPUs installed (it will not work for Intel GPUs). For example, if you have two NVidia RTX 2080 cards installed or one GTX 1070 and one RTX 2080, this setting is for you. If you have a dedicated GPU and an integrated Intel GPU, you should choose your dedicated GPU, the All GPUs setting may not work for you or perform more slowly.
To enable both graphics cards you would want to select Preferences from the Video Enhance AI menu and change the AI Processor to All GPUs.
Can I read in a sequence of images as input?
Yes. You can put a sequence of images of the same name format into one folder then load in any one of the images into Video Enhance AI. Please make sure that the name of the images should end with several sequential number digits. An example: MyFrames000000.jpg, MyFrames000001.jpg, MyFrames000002.jpg, .
My GPU utilization seems low in the task manager. Is there something wrong?
This is normal. The GPU utilization in the task manager is not precise. If you want to track the actual GPU usage, please try Nvidia-smi. You can also increase the amount of GPU usage in the app by going to Process > Preference and increasing the AI Resources Demand
For Mac M1: The M1 chip has a built-in Neural Engine. The Neural Engine is designed to accelerate machine learning tasks across the Mac for things like video analysis, voice recognition, image processing, and more. Right now you will not be able to accurately track CPU or GPU usage.
Can I try Video Enhance AI before buying it?
First, if you are new to Topaz Labs, create an account on the Topaz Labs My Account Page. Next, simply download Video Enhance AI from the Topaz Labs Downloads Page, log in using your account information, and select "Start Trial" to begin your free 30-day trial.
Can I assume the Mac and Windows versions deliver identical results?
No. This is a difficult computer science problem to solve, but we do our best to make the results nearly identical. Whenever possible. If you do notice any aberrations between operating systems please Open a Ticket in the Support Center.
What file types are compatible with Video Enhance AI?

Restoration
Naturally restore old videos without adding visual artifacts. Restore realistic details and remove compression artifacts from old or degraded sources.
“Amazing – really. Like this stuff was made by voodoo priests or something.”
Create a smooth slow-motion effect
When you create a slow motion effect, it’s even more important that you generate new frames without stuttering or motion artifacts. Video Enhance AI creates much more natural slow motion results compared to traditional time interpolation.

I just upgraded my desktop with a GeForce GTX 1650, so I installed TVE, figuring it would improve my speed. However, it never moves beyond "Loading AI Model".
I have used multiple file types with each of the models and the result is always the same. I don't have an internet connection on this machine, so I turned off model download, which means its not getting hung up on the download section. I have 8 gigs of ram, but I'm not running anything else besides the OS. Is this strictly a memory problem or could something else be going on?
UPDATE: it seems to have fixed itself when I connected to the internet.
any solutions. it seems it comes and goes for myself.. been stuck for a while now at loading AI model..
It seemed to fix itself when I connected to the internet.
I had the same problem even with an internet connection. The solution for me was to start the program "as administrator" (I use windows with a user account).
No go for me - it's just don't downloading anything!
Late to the party here and I note the OP is from before V2.3.0 released and predates the Chronos model, but I just experienced and solved this issue with the Chronos model and thought I'd chip in just in case anyone else lands here from a Google search.
In my case, I noticed that the Slo-Mo dropdown had somehow been changed to "NaN" (Not a Number) instead of a percentage. It appears to have happened when I exported my settings to a preset. When trying to render, VEAI just sat on the "Loading AI model" screen and proceeded no further.
Once I noticed the NaN and set to to "100%" instead, the render started as normal.
I've only experienced this with Chronos, but for anyone experiencing this issue with other models, it might just be worth checking through all your settings in the right hand pane and making sure they all have valid values.
And I put it through Topaz Video Enhance AI, with the following settings:
AI Model: Artemis Low Quality v12
Grain Settings: Amount 1.8 / Size 1.00
Did I use the best settings? I definitely see improvement, but must admit to being slightly underwhelmed with the results. I hope I overlooked something or didn't chose the appropriate settings. Any advice is very welcome!
If it's a low quality source, I recommend using Gaia-HQ v5. I used that AI model to upscale Teletubbies content, which is 480p. I used Gaia-HQ to upscale a CGI Windows animation from 2003.
Seriously, Gaia-HQ is one of, if not the best AI model to use. It creates/enhances detail greatly. Try using Gaia-HQ!
P S, Power Rangers is a great show!
Thanks, I'll try it out and come back with the results! :)
AI Model: Artemis Low Quality v12
Sizing: FHD 1920/1080p
Grain Settings: Amount 6.5 / Size 1.00
Video format: MP4
Compression Factor: 24
Its perfect for dvdrips
the final file will be around 5giga
Ok, I'll have to try it out! Thanks.
i just installed 2.4.0 and i no longer see gaia as an option, which seems to be better than artemis i'm using now. Is there a way to add it back in?
A little late but you have to click on file in the top left corner and then Manage AI Models. There you can add it back in
How do I adjust my grain settings?
Most settings are ai model specific. So they aren't going to be in every model. Grain is definitely an option when using the Gaia CG model. I use that one a TON to upscale old or badly compressed and hard to find animations.
Also. the compression rate factor gives better results with LOWER numbers. The default in Gaia is 20 IIRC? I tend to use 15 or so with the best results for my purposes but YMMV.
Denoising
Remove noise and grain while recovering real detail in your videos. Minimize flickering and other temporal artifacts caused by frame-by-frame denoising approaches.
Frame rate conversion for 2021
Introduced in v2.3, the Chronos AI model uses deep learning to increase video frame rate without artifacts. Existing methods like frame blending and optical flow are decades old and produce inconsistent and unnatural results. Video Enhance AI generates new frames that are often indistinguishable from frames captured in-camera, enhancing videos with more natural results.
Upscaling
Upscale video resolution with detail gathered from multiple frames. Our video upscaler can convert SD to HD and HD to 4k or 8k while adding crisp and natural video details.
Deinterlacing
Use deep learning to convert interlaced videos to progressive while preserving image definition. Significantly reduces visual artifacts compared to traditional deinterlacing.

that given, they are not very useful.
common reason to programs crashes is (also) when it can't download the A.I. pre-learned model.
the UI still presents an option to use that algorithm but the program can't download and just hangs until it crashes (few seconds).
it will download the whole list in parallel into the current folder you run it from, just move it to the models folder specified above and try again. naturally there might be a newly needed model some day, in a new version, but if you cover most of the algorithms you should be fine.
Note:
the "v1" or "v12" part is unpredicted,
but most of the other parts of the URL, is.
sizes, x1/x2/x4 and different algorithm are parts that returns in each URL, also the suffix of -ox / -ov (and there is also -ml
you can always generate a filename and try to download it, a long list can be feed into aria2c and it will handle it,
and when its done
here is a list I've compiled for now, will eventually get it into a some kind of a gist.
and a couple of screen shots..
would update this sometime in the future, essentially you open the program in custom mode, clear (move) all currently modules to another folder, select a single side-by-side comparison so it only renders one model, and click preview, the program downloads the model and you can "pair it" with its actual meaningful name, the scale buttons controls if it is either x1/x2/x4 file.
F.Y.I. you can always HOSTS-block the application in-order to avoid it sending analytics, checking for updates or potentially leaking data afterwards (it will block automatically model downloads so be sure to also set the option to not download anything in the settings afterwards so the program won't hang, it will crash probably if the resource isn't found though..)
Video Enhance AI uses information from multiple frames to achieve high-end results for video upscaling, denoising, deinterlacing, and restoration.
Improving the quality of videos is substantially more complex than photos because of motion-related issues like flickering, blockiness, and wavy artifacts. To solve this issue, Video Enhance AI looks at surrounding frames to improve resolution and reduce motion artifacts for natural results.
"Really useful for converting DVDs to Blu-ray quality for viewing on a large-screen 4K TV. One needs a powerful GPU. but the end result is worth it."
Increase video frame rate (24 to 60 FPS, 30 to 60 FPS)
To increase your video’s frame rate, you’ll need to generate new frames between your video’s existing frames. The existing ways to do this (frame blending, optical flow) often look unnatural and jittery especially with moving backgrounds. Video Enhance AI uses a new approach based on machine learning to “predict” the best intermediate frame between existing ones, which gives you much better results with a wider variety of material.

Video enhance AI: 60FPS
