This build has run fine for 1.5 years, only minor hiccups (occasional freeze). I was browsing the web when my monitors suddenly went black, no response. Tried to reboot, but PC wouldn't boot up. I kept trying, and eventually, I got a partial boot into Windows, but it froze before loading. I repeatedly powered off and on, mostly with no response at all (not even seeing ASRock logo most of the time), occasionally partial loads, and occasionally getting as far as logging into Windows and opening a browser before freezing/blackout.
I cleared CMOS to reset to defaults, no effect. Tried to get into UEFI, and after many tries it got there but froze. I swapped the positions of my memory sticks to no effect. Unfortunately I have no spare parts to swap/test with.
When I could get into Windows, sound stopped after blackouts so I don't think it was the GPU. The UEFI freeze also continued to show picture, not blackout. I could sometimes get into Windows, so I don't think it was a hard drive/installation problem - it seems like it would be more consistent. I'm thinking it might be the motherboard since it froze even in UEFI, but I don't know how to confirm this. I suppose the only other element in the loop was the power supply.
I'm interested in what others think, and if I can save the build, what next steps should I take to diagnose/fix?

Constantius: .

So I began building my computer last night, and halfway through the process I decided to turn on the motherboard and see how it works. The LED screen came up with an A3, and I looked it up and it said it's an IDEA thing. So far, I've connected the fans, HAD, CD-Drive, and RAM. The video card hasn't been connected and I haven't connected the monitor yet. Can anyone tell me what I should do about the A3?
Side Note: The internal HDD was the backup for my old computer, so it has files on it but no OS.

It's working just fine. The LED will scroll through codes as your computer boots up. It's telling you the process is stopping at your HDD because it can't go any further. There's no OS to boot from on the drive. Hook up your monitor. You don't need a video card for that board, you can use the onboard video. In BIOS set your drives how you need (IDE, SATA, RAID), change boot order to CD-drive first, HDD that you want to install OS to second, and proceed with installing your OS if you're ready and you want to install your OS on that particular HDD you have in there.
Keep in mind you'll lose all your files on that HDD that was your old computer's backup, unless you have it partitioned.

I'm actually not at home, but I think my HDD is still on the slave mode on the back. That should male it work.

Exactly. I just finished building an Asrock z68 Fatal1ty, same codes. Had the same code you have at the stage you are at. And once you install your OS and actually boot from that drive, you can watch the LED as you boot, go through the codes. And you will see A3, then, when it boots, it will cycle past that code and you won't see A3 anymore.
Essentially it wants to boot from that drive and can't. So that's where the process is stopping for now.

I am having trouble with a new build I'm working on. Just put together the setup listed below and cannot get any video out put at all and just show error codes (00, 30, and 4C) on the motherboard. From looking up similar issues I have tried: Taking out CPU and checking for damaged pins, taking out all RAM (which gives error code 53), trying just 1 stick of RAM in each slot, resetting CMOS, and a number of other RAM configurations. All tests have ended up with the same 3 errors codes and no video output from the HDMI nor VGA port. I can't get to the Bios to event check any settings there. I initially had a GTX 1080, 2 TB HDD, and DVD drive connected, but have removed/disconnected all 3 for troubleshooting.
Any help in figuring out the error codes or suggestions for troubleshooting would be appreciated.

some times you got to seat them 1 or 2 times to insure there in correctly even if it seems to have the first time
so I guess all's good now .

ya, all that is well supported under the first release bios of that board. I seen a few guys get a defect CPU with skylake and changed everything out to try to resolve and last ditch RMA the CPU back to intel and there new replacement worked great and as expected .. .
tough call on what to do when these things happen and costs can start adding up rma shipping around or buying another part to try , ect . been there
pc shop may be a good bet to test but I wonder how many got all this latest stuff set up to do so ??
you get this hot new first release stuff you the Guiney pigger / beta tester

I'm not at home at the moment so I can't check this. Do you know if with a single side clip RAM slot if the clip locks in automatically like it does with a 2 clip slot? I have been putting in the ram and the side without a clip actually make a click noise like it is attached and then I have been lowering the other side slip manually. I just thought about it and wasn't sure if it should just be latching down on its own when inputting the RAM.
