Hi, this is my selenium test under Django with the last version of geckodriver (0.21.0 64bits), I got this error when I run the test. But when I use the geckodriver version (0.20.1 64bits), It's working fine.
Anyone can tell me what's wrong with my test and last geckodriver version?

@Oxyo78 nothing stands out there. Mind also attaching the Selenium log?
Also does any of the commands you execute here take longer than 5s to execute? Or maybe caused by an extra sleep?

Is there any change to see some timing information in the Selenium log? The information above is not that verbose.

Thx for reply, I know this post, it was my answer :)
I don't know why Selenium doesn't want to give me his logs. Maybe something wrong in my code, but still working with the 0.20.1.
Thx to taking time to check my problem

@whimboo I'm sorry, I forgot to answer. the both version take same time, but the 0.21.0 give me the error.
I found where the error come from.
Like this, I got the error:
the function "test_local" doesn't want to get the cls.selenium = webdriver.Firefox() and give me the [WinError 10053] error.
But if I set it in the function like this, it's working:
YohanVienne commented Jun 28, 2018
Finally I fix it with the 0.21.0.
I changed my setUp and tearDown function name and code like this:
I've still get the [WinError 10053] error, but all the test is OK
whimboo commented Jun 29, 2018
Hm, mind uploading another trace log which shows such an error? I would still be interested to know what this actually is. Thanks.

What makes me wonder now are you using keep-alive? By default it should be disabled for the Python bindings as @AutomatedTester told me. So if you explicitly enable it, try disabling it.
AutomatedTester commented Jul 4, 2018
@whimboo This issue is because the connection is being forcibly closed by a webserver.
For some reason I get the following error only when I open up a nested webdriver instance. No idea what is happening here.
I am using Windows 10, geckodriver 0.21.0, and Python 3.7.
ConnectionAbortedError: [WinError 10053]

Part of Script Causing System to Abort Connection

Here it is in a codepen, since it is wayyy too long!

Does anybody have any idea whatsoever what might be causing the connection to abort?
@K.Dackow first thing when i wake up tomorrow ill run that part of the script again and post the geckodriver.log and ill send you a msg to notify u
@K.Dackow ok, ive added the geckodriver.log in a codepen since it puts me way over the character limit. tbh i have no idea what i am or should be looking for in it :/

This error message.
. implies that the initialization of a new WebBrowsing Session i.e. Firefox Browser session was aborted.
An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine
As per your code attempt the error is clearly coming out create_webdriver_instance() function which contains:
So it is not exactly clear from which function you are facing this issue among return webdriver.Firefox(profile) or webdriver.Firefox() .
Perhaps a closer look at the logs within codepen suggests the error is coming out from webdriver.Firefox(profile) .
Reasons
There can be multiple reason behind this error:

Error 10053 means that an established connection has been dropped.
There are three descriptions of this error message we know about, but the descriptions are given by Windows, so they may vary depending on your version of Windows:
An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
The TCP/IP Connection was aborted by Windows. This was possibly due to a data transmission timeout or protocol error.
The virtual circuit was terminated due to a time-out or other failure. The application should close the socket as it is no longer usable.
Question/Problem: WSAECONNABORTED (10053) Software caused connection abort.
Answer/Solution: A connection abort was caused internal to your host machine. The software caused a connection abort because there is no space on the socket's queue and the socket cannot receive further connections.
WinSock description: The error can occur when the local network system aborts a connection. This would occur if WinSock aborts an established connection after data retransmission fails (receiver never acknowledges data sent on a datastream socket).
TCP/IP scenario: A connection will timeout if the local system doesn't receive an (ACK)nowledgement for data sent. It would also timeout if a (FIN)ish TCP packet is not ACK'd (and even if the FIN is ACK'd, it will eventually timeout if a FIN is not returned).

According to this page it's not clear if this error is an error in the Python standard libraries or Django. Either way, I don't think this is because of django-helpdesk . I would recommend ensuring you're using the latest version of both Python and Django. Also sounds like you're using Windows? You might have better success on a Linux host.

Same problem, Windows 10, Python 3.6, Django 2.1.7, without virtualenv. Site works, but I am receiving these errors in the console
gwasser commented Feb 24, 2019
Thanks! I'm glad it does work and just gives console errors. I haven't used or tested this much from Windows. The error code suggests some kind of Windows error in the libraries and not django-helpdesk itself, but if there's some we can do to help mitigate, glad to merge that in.
In the meantime, if possible, can you run on linux to avoid the issue?
thesunlover commented Feb 24, 2019
I remember that I got the error if I don't wait for the full load of the page, or even before it loads and I quit the browser tab. I need to correct the information I provided. My django version is also 2.1.7

I'm marking this as documentation to remind myself that we should add a note to the docs that if you are using windows, we recommend Python 3.7+ to avoid this issue.

Hi all,
I used to have the same issue since a while.
I just updated to Python 3.7.3 (from 3.7.0), I use Django 2.2 and run pipenv virtual env on Windows 10 and I still have the issue (same message as the latest one posted).
As described above, everything works fine for my project and it's "only" warning message in the console (but it makes difficult to read print() messages ^^).
I read here and there this could come either from a database lock or a matter of files' size. I did my best to commit each db action (I use SQLite) and the only file I use in my latest project is 40kb so it should not be a big deal.
Thanks in advance for taking care of this.
gwasser commented May 8, 2019
Thanks @lincal2309 for testing. To be clear, the bug report linked above suggested it won't be until the next bug release (Python 3.7.4, or later -- definitely scheduled as part of 3.8). We'll re-evaluate when it comes out if there's anything we can do on our end, hopefully it will be fixed!

The upgrade from Python 3.7.3 to 3.7.4 remove the error message of AttributeError & TypeError. However, there is still one error message unable to resolve.

Hi guys,
I was making a web application and was facing the same issue in windows 10, python 3.7.6, django 3.0.8. I tried a lot of stuff and i finally found a fix.
I was using a form which called a js function onsubmit which in turn sent a REST call which was getting canceled with the '[WinError 10053] An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine' error in command prompt.
I added the parameter method='post' and used jQuery.ajax in the js function and i added the event.preventDefault() as well in the function as well as some success and fail callbacks. I don't understand why but now i am not getting the error.
Hope this help anyone using js along with HTML forms until a the issue is root-caused and fixed. @gwasser maybe it will help you understand the problem.
gwasser commented Aug 1, 2020
Thank you @Shubhang9 for the report! I believe this might help in tracking down the error, will need to look at all of our javascript to see if any form submits are missing the method='post' parameter and see if that helps.
