Bad audio driver installation detected voicemeeter что делать
I n some cases, VOICEMEETER can generate crackles, stutters, cuts or a robot voice (distortion, ringing, flanging). This can happen immediately or even after several hours of perfect audio. Check and try the following tips to fix it.
Keep in mind, digital audio is a highly complex technology, where a lot of elements have to work flawlessly together to get an uninterrupted, undistorted result: hardware quality, audio drivers, the operating system, the audio buffer size and finally the used audio software. Problems can have multiple reasons and sometimes canot be fixed with a simple switch of a button.
General rules
All audio Apps should be connected to VOICEMEETER or should not use the same audio output device as VOICEMEETER, to avoid audio device conflicts. We strongly recommend to set VOICEMEETER virtual audio I/O as your default playback / recording device.
In all cases, you must test for a significant duration to validate your configuration before going on the air. If the problem remains, send a screenshot of VOICEMEETER and its system settings dialog box to our forum to let us see your configuration.
Restart the audio engine
This is an option in the main menu, and in most cases, fixes these issues. Read more …
Select the best audio device for output A1
Keep your default settings – default buffer size / default engine mode – and select your best audio device as output A1. This gives the most stable device for the main audio output.
- an ASIO device if it presented with 256 or 512 sample buffer size
- WDM or KS with 512 sample buffer size
- MME with 512-1024 sample buffer size (as a last choice).
The device selected as output A1 sends the main stream.
The output A1 device is used to generate the master audio stream, all other I/O and streams will be based on it. So this device must work correctly.
A WDM device will be used in EXCLUSIVE mode per default. But the device could refuse in some cases, because it is already in use or because the eclusive mode is disabled. In this case, the device will be used in SHARE mode (a “S” is displayed in System Settings Dialog box – right to the output A1 Device audio format). The stream might be unstable and it could be better to use an existing KS or MME driver.
Avoid audio device conflicts
A typical problem comes when using the ASIO Driver as output A1 and selecting the same device with another audio interface (WDM, MME, KS) as hardware input or on another VOICEMEETER BUS.
This creates an Audio Device Conflict. If you select an ASIO device as main audio device (output A1) you must use ASIO routing capabilities (ASIO PATCH in VOICEMEETER system settings) to assign ASIO channels to the VOICEMEETER physical input or output BUS.
Keep in mind:
DO NOT SELECT THE SAME AUDIO DEVICE TWICE IN DIFFERENT AUDIO POINTS.
Check your stream with the integrated recorder
The best way to check that your main stream on output A1 device is running stable is the integrated Recorder/Player in Banana/Potato.
Simply play some audio tracks and check that there is no problem, no cuts, no distortions, no crackles … just the sound, that you expect.
Change the buffers for the Virtual Audio Path
Audio on PCs always works with buffers and buffer sizes, which are processed by the CPU and the overall system. Smaller buffer sizes result in lower latency (which everyone wants), but also in higher buffer numbers and a higher CPU load. If buffers are to small or have the wrong size to work with a software, which uses a different buffer size, it can result in crackles or dropouts.
The buffer-related issue can sometimes be found in a virtual audio path, such as from the VOICEMEETER virtual output (BUS B1, B2, or B3) to a capture application (Discord, Skype, etc…). You may check the internal latency of the related VAIO (virtual audio I/O).
The default value is 7168 samples, but this may not be enough to ensure a stable stream on a virtual link (depending on the buffer used by the application connected to it – for example, 7168 samples may not be enough if the capture app uses a 4096 sample buffer).
Then you may increase internal latency with the VBCABLE_ControlPanel app installed with Voicemeeter (there is one ControlPanel for each virtual audio cable – used as virtual audio I/O by Voicemeeter).
Note: The internal latency is applied to the related virtual audio cable used as Virtual Audio I/O by VOICEMEETER. So the BUS B1 output uses the same internal latency as the first virtual input. The BUS B2 uses the same as the second virtual input etc. …
I tried to upgrade from a perfectly fine working installation of VoiceMeeter Banana to VoiceMeeter Potato.
I uninstalled the components 1 by 1, restarting between each step. I checked device manager and removed any leftover devices in "Audio inputs and outputs" and "Sound, video and game controllers".
I installed VoiceMeeter Potato, and everything works fine functionally, but every time I launch it, there is a popup message that I have to click "ok" on telling me there may be a bad audio driver installation.
I used Menu > Check Driver Installation. and it shows 2 errors saying "Found same Icon used by:"
Here is the output:
I'd appreciate any suggestions on what to try in order to fix this.

It appears you have a leftover VoiceMeeter AUX channel from Banana

Try removing it via device manager or uninstall VoiceMeeter Potato and make sure there are no leftover inputs/outputs in device manager and reinstall Potato.
Your virtual desktop device used for be has the same icon as voicemeeter. Change that and I believe you should be good
Thanks. For some reason that seems to have worked. Not sure why an icon was producing an error in the first place but I'm glad it stopped.
How can I change the icon?
I have a solution, maybe it is not the same problem as you have, but the same error appears. It is very simple, I had disabled all the virtual cables of both, the sound and microphone and that's why that error appeared, I only had to turn them on and everything works fine now, at least for the moment.
Bad icon or bad pin name are collateral effects of a bad installation or a previous bad de-installation process. this cannot be solved by changing the name or icon. To solve this problem shown above you may:
1- de-install Voicemeeter + REBOOT
3- re-install Voicemeeter + reboot.
I'm having the same issue. Actually been trying to hammer down a sound issue the past week straight, with Potato. It started about a week ago, out of nowhere, and has been literally taking all of my days trying to fix it, since.
I actually just got a watch dog blue screen, as well, about 2 hours ago; right after my sound cut completely off.
I've been having lots of popping in my sound, and I've tried everything I can think of, countless hours of googling, trying every 'try this' idea that's come up, etc.
I'll do this uninstall and reboot, then reinstall.. Question, since I dual stream, I also use cable a, cable b, and vm cable, as well.. Am I supposed to install all of those before potato? Or potato first then those? I want to do it right, and hammer down this issue.. This week has sucked and I am SO far behind on so many things, now. T_T'
check it's not disabled *i disabled mine cos i don't use the aux for any apps
uninstall both the vm banana and the virtual cable and reinstall but install the banana then restart, and then install the cable and restart, for some reason it works in this order. i had the same problem and this method worked for me just now
idk if you ended up getting it fix i was having trouble with all audio going thru was going out of A1 crackling/staticy/grainy whatever you wanna call it. I just got a fix i switched my A1 instead of WMD Speakers/Headphones for my out put i did MME Speakers/Headphone and its the clearest audio i have ever had and now i booted up obs and everything work perfectly
Late to the party on this, but I just had the same issue, Found it to be Cable A that was causing the bad issue, uninstalled the cable, restart, installed the cable, restart and it fixed the issue.
Might not be something that can help you. Put if people have that issue, this comes up as a first Google Search
I have the same problem when upgrading to the recent VoiceMeeter Banana Update.

CONCLUSION: 4 error detected (You may consider re-installing audio drivers)
K eep in mind: VOICEMEETER does not need to be removed from your computer in case of a problem. VOICEMEETER is a usual Windows application, endowed with an audio device driver. If you don’t use it, it will not affect your system nor causes problems.
There is also NO REASON to reset the Windows installation or create a restoration point. Basically, all is a question of the audio configuration in the Windows Control Panel / Sound Settings.
VOICEMEETER is installed on your system disk:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VB\Voicemeeter
Its virtual I/Os are installed in the system directory like any other audio driver.
Uninstall VOICEMEETER
Attention! After the deinstallation, you need to REBOOT Windows! Otherwise, a new VOICEMEETER installation will not work.
If the VOICEMEETER Setup Program does not allow the installation, the virtual audio device (or parts) are still installed or not completely de-installed.
In this case, you need to de-install the VOICEMEETER Virtual Audio Driver manually in the Windows Device Manager:
(1) Open the system / device manager
(2) Find any reference to the VOICEMEETER Audio Device and right click on it to de-install it.
(3) Check the Sound Video Game Controller section first, then the Audio Inputs and Outputs section.
(4) Reboot after each operation!
If the VOICEMEETER Setup program fails to complete its process (installation should take less than 3 minutes), you can go to the existing VOICEMEETER directory (C:Program Files (x86) VB Voicemeeter) and try to install or remove the VOICEMEETER virtual audio device using the VBCABLE_Setup programs – remember to REBOOT after each operation.
If nothing works and you still can’t install a new VOICEMEETER version, consider doing a system roll back (sytem restore) … from a recent point (some days ago).
VOICEMEETER connects and mixes any audio hardware with any software sound to several outputs.
Connect headsets, USB mics, audio cards, Skype, Game sound, Video Players, ZOOM you name it.
Mix, solo, mute or split audio and send it to your speakers and headphones.
Virtual Soundcard
VOICEMEETER appears as a multi-channel soundcard in the system.
All important driver protocols – WDM, MME, ASIO, WaveRT. DirectX – are supported. VOICEMEETER brings its own driver(s) and can be used by all applications as a playback and recording device with 8 inputs and 8 outputs.

VOICEMEETER provides a Virtual Input and Output with 8 channels each, which allows it to connect software, like Game Sound or Voice-over-IP apps. Thanks to the universal driver support – including ASIO – every Windows application can be connected to VOICEMEETER.
If the Virtual Input is set as default Windows audio device, all sounds will be sent directly to VOICEMEETER. This way Windows audio can be played at any time without any previous device configuration. All Windows sounds will be “collected” in VOICEMEETER, mixed together and played on the specified outputs (e. g. speakers or headphones). All important driver models are supported. This is a unique feature, no sound questions asked anymore.
By the way: Surround sound anyone? Working, right out of the box. Just plug & play your apps.
The Virtual Input even supports multi-client ASIO operation on its 8 I/Os. 4 ASIO applications can send and receive signals at the same time.
BANANA/POTATO provide 2 VIRTUAL ASIO I/O plus 1 VIRTUAL INSERT I/O each.

Give your voice a spatial identity and increase dialog quality – e.g. improve the intelligibility when everyone is talking at the same time.
THE TOOL OF PROFESSIONALS
Master Parametric EQ
Change the color of your sound with a professional mastering Equalizer (BANANA/POTATO). Including EQ curve, A/B Comparison, Load / Save / Copy settings.
The MASTER EQ provides 6 EQ Cells for the 8 possible channels of the BUS. The Channel Selector allows working on all channels in the same time or on a given channel only.
LOUDER!
The “Brick” Limiter
Click directly in the meter bar to set the maximum limit by the mouse or right click to enter the value directly (-40 to +12 dB). No signal above the threshold will pass.
Banana and Potato provide a professional “Brick” Limiter on each physical or virtual strip. It defines a threshold for each audio source, which allows to increase the volume of the signal without overloads and distortion.
EVERY SOUND
NEEDS ITS SPACE.
INTERNAL PRO REVERB
POTATO includes Justverb III: A special version of the original VB reverb series developed for the professional Innovason mixing consoles.
Every channel includes a Send-to-Reverb control. Every BUS provides a Mix-Reverb-to-the-signal control. Like pro audio mixers.
JustVerb III provides a graphic user interface adapted to a live production workflow. It includes a three-band full parametric equalizer for customizing the color of your reverb effect.
Nearly all VOICEMEETER features can be controlled with freely programmable MACRO BUTTONS. Up to 80 clearly titled buttons can be triggered by the mouse, keyboard shortcut, Game pad, MIDI messages or even Audio Triggers.
It is also possible to combine different requests to create a complex action on Voicemeeter. For example a PUSH TO TALK or AUTO DUCKING function could set the MUSIC Gain to -10db and mute other talkers simultaneously.
Examples of VOICEMEETER commands:
- Mute or Solo an input channel or a bus
- Change the volume on channels or buses
- Control the integrated Equalizer
- Special voice effects with a single click (e.g. Modulation, Color Panel)
- Change voice color/audibility for special segments
- Start a sound & playback from the integrated recorder
- Save or load the entire configuration file
VOICEMEETER BANANA/POTATO includes a full featured audio recorder – easy to use, like a classic tape deck.
The recorder saves your VOICEMEETER audio directly to harddisc – as stereo file in MP3, WAV, BWF or AIFF format. 4, 6, or even 8 channels can be recorded in WAV or AIFF format.
The audio can be captured from pre-fader input channels or post fader from any BUS.
